Accuracy matters more to us than speed. When we get something wrong, we say so, fix it and make the fix visible.

What we correct

  • Errors of fact: a wrong name, number, date, place, quote or attribution, or a photo or caption that does not match the story.
  • Misleading framing: a headline or opening that gives a wrong impression of what the sources say.
  • Translation errors: a meaning that changed between our English and Urdu versions.
  • Out-of-date information: a story whose key facts have changed since publication.

How we correct

  1. Fix the story. We correct the text as soon as we have confirmed the right information from a named, credible source.
  2. Add a visible note. For a significant error we add a dated line at the top of the story, for example: "Correction (7 November 2026): an earlier version gave the toll as 12; officials have confirmed 10." Small typing and spelling slips are fixed without a note.
  3. Update both languages. The English and Urdu versions are kept in step.
  4. Withdraw if we must. A story that cannot be supported by credible sources, or that could cause serious harm or breaks the law, is taken down, and we say why where we can.

How to report a mistake

Use our contact page. Please send the link to the story, what is wrong and, if you can, where we can verify the right information. We aim to review every request within two working days and will tell you what we decided.

AI-assisted stories

We use AI to help draft and translate stories, and AI can make mistakes. Every story is checked against its sources, and errors found in AI-assisted text are treated and corrected exactly like any other error.

Right of reply
