Commuters traversing the bustling thoroughfares of the twin cities recently witnessed a high-level operational check on their mobile connectivity. According to Business Recorder, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) executed an intensive evaluation of telecommunication services across prominent routes connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Business Recorder reported that the assessment was spearheaded by PTA Chairman Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman (Retd), alongside key regulatory officials including Member Finance Muhammad Naveed, Member Compliance and Enforcement Dr Khawar Siddique Khokhar, and Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim. The exercise also drew participation from enforcement directors, representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), mobile network operators, and media personnel.

The inspection routes spanned vital arteries such as Constitution Avenue, Club Road, Murree Road, Rawal Road, the vicinities of the Old Airport, T-Chowk, and the New Islamabad International Airport. During the deployment, survey participants and journalists actively placed voice calls and utilized mobile data services at multiple stops to gauge real-world network consistency.

Why it matters

Initial findings from the field assessments pointed to strong network performance, according to Business Recorder, indicating that current consumer telecommunication services across the surveyed zones maintain a high standard of quality and reliability.
